Polyethylene terephthalate – or PET for short – is a common plastic. Historically, ABS has been used in 3D printing because it is stronger and more durable than PLA, however, it can be difficult to print, not to mention it’s high environmental impact due to its oil-based origins and polluting fumes. PET is becoming an emerging filament; comparable to PLA in terms of printing ease, but also strong and durable to rival ABS. Again, typical PET filament occurs from virgin sources, which adds to the already large-scale problem of waste plastic. To combat this, Filamentive rPETg is made from recycled PET waste streams, such as plastic food containers and drinks bottles. Our PET filament also features glycol – hence the ‘g’ – which prevent undesirable crystallization effects that causes standard PET to become brittle. Overall, rPETg is strong, does not warp, and is odour neutral; the perfect filament for those strong and durable parts.
